The school supplies tax exempt holiday is August 5-7 this year. Not everything is tax free. Here is the info from the VA Dept of Taxation. They give you a list of items that qualify. Thanks to Alison Visokay for her help with this!

Help! My 20 year high school reunion is here and as a class we are really struggling w/schedules and time to actually plan this thing. Everyone so far wants it to be simple and cheap!:) We just want to get together, but doing that w/200 graduates and their significant others is tough! We need help w/a venue, catering, etc. Any advice that you can give would be great. If you didn’t know, I recently tried a product called Isagenix from a company called “Changes” here in Charlottesville. I talked about my experiences on the radio and on my blog. one friend and loyal listener heard and she decided to make some changes too. Here is her story.

“Hello Sherry,

Today is day 4 of my Changes Program, I have to say that it’s okay so far.  I even feel better then I thought I would.  

Here’s my story; my husband has all of our photos over the years coming up on his computer as a screen saver, I can see years past me by before my eyes.  He looked at one from 2005 one day and he told me how good I looked then.  I think it was the last time I ever looked that good.  See, in those 6 years, my life took on so many changes.  Most of which I put on an extra 100 pounds.  The stress in my life, my financial position and even what comes with turning to your fifties all had effected by life, all of which I could soon take control of, but those 100 pounds are the hardest to control.  I became embarrassed by my weight, I only posted pics of myself on my facebook page of the old me, the thinner me and I hoped that I never ran into anyone from my past.  I even started staying away from the best brothers and sisters in the world.  Now, I am going to be able to face the world again because I am taking control of my weight.

Thank you so much for your blog and for the advertising on the radio, it was you that inspired me to take this challenge.  It’s day 4 and I am taking back my life.

“Christmas in July” –a clothing and toy giveaway will take place at Hope Community Center on Saturday, July 16 from 8AM-12PM. The event is open to the public but specifically to benefit low income and refugee families.  Donations of gently used clothing, toys and small household items are being accepted at Hope from Sat, July 9-Thursday July 14 from 9am-8pm.  A $10 donation will provide lunch for 1 family in need at Christmas in July.  Please help them meet their goal of feeding 400 families that day.  All donations are tax deductible.  There will be food, music, moon bounce, face painting and maybe santa!!!  There is plenty of room for volunteers July 9-16 and businesses are welcome to sponsor the event.  Hope is located at 341 11^th St NW, Charlottesville.   For information about donations, volunteering and sponsorship, please contact marianne@hopecommunitycenter.org  or www.hopecommunitycenter.org
